Monthly Newsletter

Each month, we will attach a newsletter to the Harbor Point Counseling Hub. The newletter will give you an overview of the classroom lesson taught by Mrs. Whitaker and Mrs. Brown (Harbor Point School Counselors). The lessons are in sequence with the school standard focused on each month. Click on the counseling newsletter for an enlarged version.

Counseling Services

The School Counseling program includes classroom lessons, individual and small group counseling to provide support with specific topics, on a short-term basis. The overall objectives of our lessons and counseling sessions are to help your student:

  • increase use of self-control, management of emotions, and positive social skills;
  • demonstrate effective coping strategies and problem-solving skills; and
  • enhance feelings of self-confidence to succeed academically and socially.

A signed parent/guardian permission form is required for students to receive counseling services. Please complete the online parent referral form link.

Please contact the emotional health relief hotline or SAFE UT @ 1-800-273-8255 if urgent.

HOPE SQUAD

Jr. Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. Hope Squad leaders are nominated by their classmates during 5th grade and committ to serve on the hope squad for 2 years. HOPE Squad is a school based “peer to peer” program that partners with local mental health and community agencies. Hope Squad leaders are trained to be active listeners so they may help and respond to peers who are struggling with emotional issues such as depression and anxiety. The nominated students are trained monthly and plan activities to help increase friendship and prevent bullying. We also have hope day monthly and hope week once a year to bring awareness to emotional and social wellbeing of our students. If you have further questions, contact Mrs. Brown (Hope Squad Advisor).
